Meet Sanjyot (Sun-joe-t)

Hi! I’m a pragmatic workhorse who has dedicated my life to rolling up my sleeves, working hard, and collaborating with people from all backgrounds to solve tough problems.

I grew up in Des Plaines, and my parents instilled in me the values of community, citizenship, and service along with a deep pride in the promise of America. I spent my career building things—companies, partnerships, jobs, a family—we’re a proud military family.

As a single mom raising three boys, growing a small business, and caring for aging and disabled parents, I have faced the same challenging realities that so many people in our community are struggling with right now. For too many families, the American Dream feels out of reach. That’s why I’m stepping up and running for Congress—to fight for you and ensure daily life is more affordable, safer, and healthier so that dream remains alive for generations to come.

Why I'm Running

Like all of you, home is everything to me. My family, my neighborhood, our community, our state, our country – they’ve all made me who I am. And, like you, I worry about the threats I see them facing today. That’s why I’m running.

I believe that the government’s role is to take care of the big stuff – national security, border security, economic security, and health security, enabling Americans to lead their best lives freely. Now more than ever, we need pragmatic, results-driven, strategies to invest and expand the American Dream for all with a stronger, fairer economy that works for all Americans.

I’m committed to working to deliver effective and efficient solutions that protect our freedoms and provide opportunity, education, dignity, and security for all Americans.

My Priorities

The Moment Is Now

I am motivated to run now because of our collective frustration with the lack of commonsense problem-solving in our government. Instead of recklessly cutting the critical programs our families depend on, we should reimagine how government can function more effectively to better meet the needs of all of our communities.

Strong, Responsible, Stable Innovator

  • I served on President Biden’s Foreign Policy Working Group focused on international trade, helping to shape policy to boost small business exports and strengthen our economy.
  • I serve on the Board of Directors for the National Small Business Association, working tirelessly to empower small businesses, create good-paying jobs, and strengthen our communities. I know firsthand what it takes to grow a business and create opportunity.
  • I serve on the Board of Directors for the Truman Center for National Policy and the American Leadership Project. I’m passionate about championing America’s economic well-being while driving impactful policy changes and supporting principled global leadership.

I know how to get things done and will deliver for Illinois in Congress.

The Candidate for Responsible Change

I’ll be a champion for the people of the Eighth District, actively working to introduce responsible, commonsense policies that will create a brighter future for all Americans.

My priorities in supporting Our Commonsense Movement include:

  • Making life more affordable and expanding the American Dream.
  • Making smart investments in people, learning, infrastructure, renewable energy, and innovation.
  • Growing our economy without chaotic policies and tariffs.
  • Protecting the programs working families rely on.
  • Improving Medicare so that everyone can live and age with dignity.
  • Passing pro-immigration reform to ensure that everyone has legal and faster pathways to visas, green cards, and citizenship.
  • Focusing on people and communities—not divisive, autocratic politics.
  • Passing campaign finance reform and term limits for the House, Senate, and Supreme Court, as well as strengthening voting rights.
  • Building a future that’s stable and hopeful for all Americans.

I look forward to hearing what’s important to you!
